Facility Updates

MEADOW VIEW ELEMENTARY: Work at the new Meadow View Elementary continues to progress as the weather gets colder. Interior framing is nearly complete in the 4K-5K wing and the roof installation is in progress. Exterior brick application continues on the gym, and the roof is nearing completion in that space. In the grade 1-4 wing the concrete has been poured and the precast concrete for the second floor is well underway. Final steel construction of the second floor of that wing will be completed once all the second floor concrete is in place. Steel trusses have been set in the cafeteria/commons area.

Four Oconomowoc High School students shared their experiences at Badger Boys State and Badger Girls State with the Oconomowoc Rotary this week. The Oconomowoc Rotary helped sponsor these students in their week-long, mock-government and leadership experience. "We went from strangers to friends, and friends to brothers," said Nick S., about his experience. "We learned the value of profound connections," said Malik S., who was also elected as Governor of "Badger" during the 2018 Badger Boys State. "We got together with people who were just as committed as we were," said Mia R., of her time at Badger Girls State. Clair V., added that she gained confidence in expressing her opinions through the program.

Our Oconomowoc High School Wind Symphony had the amazing opportunity to perform with guest artist, Megumi Kanda, on Tuesday. Kanda is Principal Trombonist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and she joined the Wind Symphony on stage for their concert. The Nature Hill and Silver Lake Intermediate Encore Bands also shared the stage and enjoyed Ms. Kanda's performance.

SWIM: Congratulations to the Swim Team for their achievements this season. Coach Piorkowski said, "Congratulations to all of the girls who performed so well at JV and Varsity Conference this weekend! Every swimmer achieved a new best time in at least one of her events. That's an incredible accomplishment! I am proud of the perseverance of the girls: despite illness &/or injury, our girls put their all into their races. There were many close finishes and comebacks. Personal goals were achieved and hurdles were overcome. It was so exciting to witness all of the emotions that came along with some girls' final races of the season. The smiles that appeared on their faces from the podium reflected a season (or a lifetime) of hard work, determination, and teamwork."

VOLLEYBALL: Congratulations to the Girls Volleyball team for winning the Regional Championship against Sheboygan North on October 20 and for winning the Sectional Semi-final against Neenah last night. The team takes on Watertown tomorrow in the Sectional Final at 7:00 p.m. at Hartford Union High School.
