Dear Greenland Families,
Current and former Greenland students have been fortunate to observe civics lessons in person. Greenland has been an election polling site for many years. This year, we anticipate a high turnout at the polls, and we are taking some extra steps to minimize disruption to the school day and keep students safe.
Here is the safety plan we have developed for Election Day on Tuesday, November 6.
Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures and Parking:
Greenland Staff will park on the playground Arrival and Dismissal Procedures will proceed as normal It may be advantageous to have students take the bus or utilize the carline
Lunch and Recess:
Students will participate in indoor recesses all day Hot Lunch will be served in the atrium area by the Art Room and Library Students will eat in their classrooms for the day Students with peanuts/nuts in their lunch will eat in an alternate location for allergy safety
Building Access (what doors will be open/locked):
The main entrance door to Greenland will operate as usual on Election Day Door 4 will be open for citizens to enter to vote All others doors will be secured as usual
Voting Entrance and Voting Area:
Citizens entering Greenland to vote will enter through Door 4 Door 4 is located in the Dixie Parking Lot Citizens will line up in the hallway between the multi-purpose room and the kitchen before entering the gym to vote When a citizen has completed voting, they will exit through gym Door 2
Other Safety MeasuresThe gate in the main hallway, by the teacher's lounge, will be closed the entire school dayAdults and students will only be able to gain access to classrooms by entering the office and walking in the hallway passed the Student Service's OfficeSchool personnel will be stationed in the main entrance working during the school dayStaff will be wearing identification badges
Thank you for your patience as we work through this busy day at Greenland. Together, we can minimize the potential for delays and stress during the school day.
Sincerely,
Shannon McCaffery
