The Oconomowoc High School AP Environmental Science students and teacher, Kelly Holtzman, are sewing reusable grocery bags on April 26, in celebration of Global Youth Service Day and the Boomerang Bags movement. These bags will be distributed around Oconomowoc for people to use, for free, instead of plastic bags.
What Can We Do? Students need donations of:
- Clean fabric (upholstery fabric, clothing fabrics, sheets, pillow cases, muslin. No towels or small scraps)
- Sewing supplies like: thread, sewing pins, safety pins, scissors, fabric measuring tape
- Ironing supplies like: irons, ironing boards
- Volunteers - who can help measure, cut, sew, and iron the bags. If you have a sewing machine, please bring it along!
Donations can be dropped off at the OHS Main Campus front office during school hours.
Sewing will take place in the OHS East Campus Board Room from 7:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019.
