OCONOMOWOC, WI – June 19, 2019. The Oconomowoc Area School District is proud to announce that the Wisconsin Response to Intervention Center (Rtl) and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) selected all five elementary schools, Silver Lake Intermediate School, and Oconomowoc High School for their work accomplished through the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

The Wisconsin Rtl Center's Recognized Schools program encourages schools to expand, refine, and sustain implementation of an equitable, multi-level system. The three levels of support are known in the state of Wisconsin as universal (tier 1), selected (tier 2), and intensive (tier 3). About PBIS

PBIS is a process for creating safer, more effective schools by reinforcing positive behavior and preventing and addressing problem behavior. It is a system-wide proactive framework that enables schools to be more effective and responsive to student social and emotional needs by implementing a multi-level system of support for behavior. This proactive and consistent approach to school-wide discipline can lead to improved student achievement. Schools implementing PBIS have seen a decrease in office referrals, detentions, and suspensions. For more information, visit the website at http://www.wisconsinpbisnetwork.org.
