At tonight's OASD School Board meeting, the Administration announced changes to the Intermediate and High School learning models from November 30 through the end of December. After Thanksgiving break, our OASD elementary students will return to in-person learning at school in the same cohort learning model they have been using all school year. However, our OASD Intermediate and High School students will return to school in the hybrid purple/gold model from November 30-December 18.

OASD Student Schedule for November 30-December 18:

Elementary Students

  • November 30-December 18: Learning face-to-face in the current cohort model at school
  • December 19-January 3: All students off school for winter break

Intermediate & High School Students

  • November 30-December 18: Learning in the hybrid purple/gold model
  • December 19-January 3: All students off school for winter break

This learning model change for Intermediate and High School students is intended to reduce the number of student and staff quarantines and COVID-19 cases we are experiencing in our schools and is in recognition of the fact that our local health care facilities are at or near capacity. If you have students at the intermediate schools or high school, please watch for a detailed email from your school Principal later this week with important information about your child's schedule for November 30-December 18.

In mid-December, the District will evaluate the learning models, quarantine information, COVID-19 cases among staff and students, and the current trend of active cases in our community to decide our return to school after the winter holiday break. The District will share additional information with families before the OASD winter break, which starts on December 19.

These are challenging and uncertain times. Please know this was a decision that was made honestly and with consideration of our need to balance our community's public health needs as this pandemic continues to grow worse in our region with our responsibility to provide high-quality instruction in this environment. Our goal will continue to be to find a way to provide as much face-to-face instruction while maintaining as much consistency as possible.
