Nature Hill Intermediate Art Year in Progress Art Show:  This art exhibit features 132 works of art created by 95 students in grades 5-8. Art teachers that helped put the display together are Mr. Tom Beirl and Ms. Nicole Semrow. The exhibit includes drawings, watercolor paintings, acrylic paintings, collages, relief sculptures and clay pieces.  The NHI Art Show runs February 1- March 31, 2017.  Click here for photos.

OHS senior Parker Ellis has been accepted into both the United States Military Academy West Point and into the United States Naval Academy. What an honor and accomplishment! In the fall of 2017, Parker has decided to attend the United States Naval Academy. Click here for a photo.

 

On January 28, 2017 CooneyTech Robotics' VEX Team competed in Fond du Lac against teams from all over Wisconsin. Out of 49 teams, they placed 2nd after all of the qualification matches and were picked to join the first alliance going into the elimination rounds. CooneyTech competed against 7 other alliances and ended up winning the entire tournament, gaining the Robot Skills award for the best individual robot performance, along with receiving the highest overall award given in VEX Robotics, the Excellence Award. After sweeping this large tournament, they look forward to competing at the state tournament on March 3, 2017 with the hopes of qualifying for the World Championships. Click here for a photo.


OHS Senior Directed Play:  This year’s senior directed show is, Baskerville, a Sherlock Holmes mystery written by the hilarious playwright, Ken Ludwig. Directed by Oconomowoc High School seniors Peggie Alexander and Ian Smith, this play is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous story, the Hound of the Baskervilles. It tells the story of Sherlock Holmes’ and Dr. Watson’s greatest case yet! Show dates for Baskerville are Thursday, February 23rd at 7:30 p.m., Friday, February 24th at 7:00 p.m., and two performances on Saturday February 25th, a matinee at 2:00 p.m. and a night performance at 7:30 p.m.  Click here for additional show information and how to purchase tickets.  Click here to read article.


OHS Student Visitor Host Families Needed:  Oconomowoc High School will host high school students from Thailand from April 22-May 12, 2017.  Students will stay with host families, and experience what life is like for students in the U.S.A.  If you are an OHS family and would be interested in hosting a student or students please contact Danielle Chaussée.

Arts are the thread that ties communities together and reflects students’ voices, life experiences, hopes and dreams. Oconomowoc High School is proud to announce our first annual Student Art Festival that highlights the best in area Arts programs and paints a picture of the communities we call home.  The Anchor Event is the 2nd Annual Lake Country Film Festival, held on the evenings of March 31 and April 1. Athletics

 

OHS VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL:  The Raccoons beat West Bend West 79-77, in an exciting overtime game at home on Friday, February 3.  Congratulations to OHS senior guard Zach Clayton who hit the 1,000 points mark during this game.  The boys play next on Thursday, February 9 at Beaver Dam.  Click here for full article.

 

OHS VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL:  The lady Raccoons lost to Slinger at Slinger with a final score 50-43 on Tuesday, February 7.  The girls play next at home vs. Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday, February 10.  Friday night is also senior night!  Click here for a photo.

 

OHS VARSITY WRESTLING: The Oconomowoc varsity wrestling team came in second at the February 4 WLT Conference tournament with a total of 197.5 points.  OHS senior Christian Gurule won his second Wisconsin Little Ten Conference championship with a pin in 3 minutes, 14 seconds at 145 pounds.  Varsity Sectionals will be held at OHS on Saturday, February 18 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Click here for full wrestling roundup.

 

OHS GYMNASTICS:  The OHS varsity gymnastics team lost to West Bend West on February 7 in a Wisconsin Little Ten Conference dual meet 134.4-124.425.  The OHS junior varsity team lost, 115.1-96.3.  The next varsity meet will be held at Oconomowoc vs. Watertown on February 14 at 6:30 p.m.  Click here for full article.

OHS SKI TEAM:   Oconomowoc raced at Sunburst on February 2, 2017.  The race was a slalom event vs Nicolet and Cedarburg.  Boys and Girls Varsity both came home with a second place win.  JV Gold came home with first place.

OTHER ATHLETIC NEWS:

The information meeting for all male athletes interested in participating in track and field during the spring 2017 season will be held on Wednesday, February 22, during Pride Period in the Little Theater.

 

The community is invited to participate in the OHS Valentine Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, February 12 from 7 a.m.-12 p.m.  You won't want to miss this fun event that includes a wonderful breakfast and great hospitality!  Click here for additional information.
