Oconomowoc Area School District Exceeds Expectations in Newly Released State Report Cards

Five schools improve by at least one performance category over the 2015-16 report card 

OCONOMOWOC, WI – November 21, 2017.  The Oconomowoc Area School District schools made significant gains on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction School Report Cards which were released to the public today. Five of OASD’s eight schools improved at least one rating category over the previous year.  Greenland Elementary, Ixonia Elementary, and Summit Elementary all earned five-star ratings of Significantly Exceeds Expectations.  Meadow View Elementary, Park Lawn Elementary, along with Nature Hill Intermediate and Silver Lake Intermediate all earned four-star Exceeds Expectations ratings.  The Oconomowoc High School had a Meets Expectations rating. The District earned an overall four-star Exceeds Expectations rating, with a slight increase in its overall score from last year.

The District also continues to make strong gains in the area of student growth in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, where it scored 74.6 out of a possible 100 points, compared to the state average of 66 points.  Last year, OASD’s growth score was the highest among K-12 school districts in Waukesha County.

 “As a district, our focus on continuous improvement of academic performance over the last four years has been targeted at both student achievement and student growth, so we are happy to see these promising results,” stated Superintendent Dr. Roger Rindo. “While we are not complacent, our growth on the state report card, in comparison to how we were performing when we formally began our focused continuous improvement work four years ago, is something to celebrate and is a reflection of the incredible commitment from our teachers and building leaders.”

School Board President Don Wiemer commented, “As a board, we have waited a long time to see this kind of improvement, and I am very proud of all of the hard work that is going on in our schools.  The School Board remains committed to supporting our continuous improvement efforts, and I don’t see this getting anything but better as time goes on.”
