Congratulations to Oconomowoc High School teacher, Kelly Holtzman, and her Environmental Science class for receiving a Target Field Trips grant! Holtzman is using the grant for a field trip with her Environment Science class in spring. They'll learn about community supported agriculture, farm-to-table cooking, and visit a local farm. "Think global, act local is a saying that we hear often. It's not until students get out into their local community and see course content come to life that they really make the connections between what they studied in school and what is happening around them," said Holtzman. "The importance of local examples and connections of content and the real world give students a rich experience to base their exam responses on in addition to showing students a living example of sustainability," she added.
The 3rd Annual Lake Country Film Festival is around the corner and film submissions are being accepted from February 1-28. Learn more about the categories, submission guidelines, selection process and awards at LakeCountryFilmFestival.org. Then, join us at the festival, on April 13, 2018, at the Oconomowoc Arts Center.
