Superintendent Update for the Week Ending December 20, 2019

OASD HOLIDAY BREAK: Friday, December 20th is the last day of school for 2019. OASD Winter Break will be December 21, 2019 – January 1, 2020. School resumes on Thursday, January 2, 2020.


OHS DECA adopt a school 2019: On Tuesday, our Oconomowoc High School DECA club students delivered gifts and necessities to 350 students at Riverwest Elementary School in Milwaukee. This is the 13th year that OHS DECA has organized this "Adopt a School" event to benefit another school. This year, OHS students, staff, and families donated gifts, warm weather gear, necessities, school supplies, and food. Silver Lake Intermediate hosted a "Fill the Cyclone" school supply drive, and Nature Hill Intermediate hosted a "Wolf Pack Snacks" drive, and both contributed the items to Riverwest Elementary. We're so proud of the generosity of our students, staff, and community members who continue to make Adopt A School a success. Click here to read more about Adopt A School and see photos.


OHS PRODUCTION OF WEST SIDE STORY NOMINATED FOR 24 JERRY AWARDS: We're pleased to announce that the OHS Players production of West Side Story has been nominated for 24 Jerry Awards, the most ever for any OHS musical performance! Winners will be announced in May 2020. Congratulations to the students, staff, and families involved in our theater productions and thank you to our community for supporting the arts in the OASD! NATURE HILL INCOMING 5th- GRADE INFORMATION NIGHT:4th-Grade parents and guardians from Greenland Elementary, Ixonia Elementary, and Meadow View Elementary are invited to the Incoming 5th-Grade Information Night on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Nature Hill Cafeteria.This is a great opportunity to learn more about the transition to Intermediate School, the daily schedule, and much more.

GEORGIE KRENZ "BORN TO TEACH" MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Summit Elementary School has established the Georgie Krenz "Born to Teach" Memorial Scholarship. Anyone who knew Georgie knew that she was "Born to Teach," and she truly loved the teaching profession. She touched many lives in her 28 years at Summit Elementary School. The money raised through this scholarship fund will be awarded to a graduate of Oconomowoc High School pursuing a career in the education field. OHS Athletics


BOYS BASKETBALL: The Varsity Team hosted Waukesha West on Tuesday and clenched a 64-46 win, moving them to a 4-0 record in Classic 8 play.


GIRLS BASKETBALL: The Varsity Team traveled to Waukesha West on Tuesday and brought home their fourth straight win with a 65-60 score.


GYMNASTICS:Gymnastics hosted a 12 team Varsity Invitational at home on Saturday. Oconomowoc placed 3rd as a team in their division. Jenna H. placed 2nd all- around with a 3rd on vault, 4th on bars, 5th on beam and 5th on floor. Paige E. placed 4th all-around with a 4th- place tie on vault and 3rd on floor. Keira H. placed 6th all-around with a 4th-place tie on vault and 2nd on bars.


HOCKEY: The KMMO Varsity team faced St. Mary's Springs Academy at Nagawaukee Ice Area on December 13 and finished with a close 5-4 loss.


WRESTLING: The Varsity Team traveled to Muskego on December 17 and worked hard but ended with a 45-18 loss.


OHS BOYS BASEBALL CAMP FOR GRADES 1-8:Sign up today for the 2020 Raccoon Baseball Camp, January 18, 25, and February 1, 2020.The camp is led by OHS Varsity Baseball Coach, Arno Kirchenwitz, along with the OHS Baseball Coaching Staff, current OHS players, and alumni.
