OCONOMOWOC, WI – April 7, 2017.  For the seventh time, the Oconomowoc Area School District earned a top ten national ranking among mid-size districts for innovative use of technology district-wide.  OASD placed fourth with two other districts in the Mid-sized Student Population Districts Category, recognizing districts around the country with enrollment of 3,000-12,000.

“The Oconomowoc Area School District is committed to making learning technologies readily available to all students and teachers,” said Dr. Derick Kiger, Director of Research, Technology and Assessment.  “This is evidenced by strategic investments in modern learning facilities, technology infrastructure and innovative instructional programs.”  The district will implement the final phase of OASD Mobile Technology Plan in 2017-18 while continuing evaluation of technology use in its Flexible UDL learning spaces.

School districts’ use of innovative technologies such as investing in tools for next-generation digital learners; launching STEM academies; and encouraging the innovative use of drones, solar panels and robotics clubs and camps earned top spots in the Center for Digital Education’s and National School Boards Association’s 13th  anniversary Digital School Districts Survey.  The survey recognizes exemplary school boards’ and districts’ use of technology to govern their district, communicate with students, parents and community and improve the learning environment and district operations.

The top-ten rankings are awarded to those school boards and districts that most fully implement technology benchmarks in the evolution of digital education, as represented in the survey questions.  All U.S. public school districts are eligible to participate in the Digital School Districts Survey.  View the full list of school districts honored.
